Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis counts amongst the most promising instrumentalists of his generation. The winner of XXVI Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Fermo, Italy, Oleh Krysa 3rd International Violin Competition in Lviv, Ukraine, and II CullerArts International Violin Competition in Valencia, Spain, he was awarded 3rd Prize at the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition in Auckland, New Zealand. He also received numerous special prizes for best interpretation of a virtuoso piece, contemporary piece and audience prizes on various competitions.

Jevgēnijs was selected as the Vienna Konzerthaus’s Great Talent young artist in residence and performed as a soloist throughout Europe, Russia, Israel and New Zealand.

As a passionate chamber musician, Jevgēnijs performs regularly at prominent festivals such as the Styriarte festival, Carinthian Summer festival, Festival St. Gallen, Arsonore and Tiroler Festspiele. He collaborates with both prominent and young musicians such as Benjamin Schmid, Markus Schirmer, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Nils Mönkemeyer, Aaron Pilsan, Julia Hagen, Clemens Hagen and Sharon Kam.

In 2015 he founded the Oberton String Octet, an ensemble with which he performs regularly. The main focus of the ensemble lies in both performing the great works of octet repertoire as well as less known rarities of the genre. Their debut CD “Slavic Soul” featuring string octet highlights got nominations in “Opus Klassik” and “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik” in 2020, followed by second release of a production dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Astor Piazzolla in 2021.

Born in 1995 in Riga, Latvia Jevgēnijs received his first violin lessons at the age of four. 2022 he obtained his Master of Arts degree with distinction at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz in the class of Prof. Boris Kuschnir. Jevgēnijs participated in masterclasses by Gyorgy Pauk, Ana Chumachenko and Julian Rachlin. As the Arancio prizewinner of the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis plays the ex-Christian Ferras Nicolo Amati violin, Cremona 1645, which is on loan from Rare Violins in Consortium, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative.
